BuroHappold has had a presence in the Los Angeles area since 2005. In 2014, the company transitioned from Culver City to a new office in Downtown Los Angeles. Their Los Angeles office is considered their west coast flagship, and as such, they trusted Shangri-La Construction with this important tenant improvement project.
BuroHappold Engineering is an international leader in low energy design and provides state of the art solutions throughout the world. With an incredible team of engineers, their plans included many challenging features. The most unique feature in this space is their use of raised floors enabling the installation of an under floor air distributed system (HVAC). This is the first property in Downtown Los Angeles to utilize this type of cooling system. The system supplies conditioned air through a raised floor supply plenum. This system supplies more efficient ventilation and it is less costly for building owners when considering future tenant reconfiguration. Other features of this space include, polished concrete flooring, glass and metal fixtures, multiple conference rooms, construction of new restrooms with showers, a server room and an employee break room.
The space is pending LEED Platinum certification.
